Gabe can't imagine skating with anyone but Maddy, and together they have a real chance at winning some serious gold medals. So, he’s determined to keep thinking of her like a sister. After all, he’s never had a romantic relationship that lasted for more than two weeks.

But when their coach assigns a new romantic skating program, everything changes. Will this be the big break that Maddy’s been hoping for or the big breakup that Gabe has always feared?

Goodreads:

My Review:

The Boy Next Door was such a cute read for me. I needed that laugh and smile because I was in a reading funk after reading a book that made me angry. The content was heavy and I just wanted to read something light hearted and fun. If you are looking for that then you have to read this story.

Maddy and Gabe are skating partners and best friends but Maddy has been keeping a secret from Gabe. She is in love with him and wants to be with him. To makes matter worse they have to ramp up the romance between them because their coach says it is needed in order to win. Maddy is excited but Gabe is scared to death. See Gabe does not do serious relationships but he knows there is something there between him and Maddy.

What will these two do? Will they fall in love or will they ruin their duet? I loved this book as it flowed smoothly and the romance built as time went on. They were not only best friends but skating partners so they saw each other everyday and shared so much together. Katie did a great job writing this story and I look forward to more from her.

Around The World ARC Tours Presents Little Peach by Peggy Kern

About The Book:

What do you do if you're in trouble?

When Michelle runs away from her drug-addicted mother, she has just enough money to make it to New York City, where she hopes to move in with a friend. But once she arrives at the bustling Port Authority, she is confronted with the terrifying truth: she is alone and out of options.

Then she meets Devon, a good-looking, well-dressed guy who emerges from the crowd armed with a kind smile, a place for her to stay, and eyes that seem to understand exactly how she feels.

But Devon is not what he seems to be, and soon Michelle finds herself engulfed in the world of child prostitution where he becomes her “Daddy” and she his “Little Peach.” It is a world of impossible choices, where the line between love and abuse, captor and savior, is blurred beyond recognition.

This hauntingly vivid story illustrates the human spirit’s indomitable search for home, and one girl’s struggle to survive.

Goodreads:

My Review:

Okay I have to first start this review out by saying read this book with caution. This book made me laugh, cry, get angry, and finally I threw the book on the bed because I needed more.

This is a compelling story about a 14 year old girl who runs away from home to see the big city and live with her friend. When she gets to New York she realizes that she is all alone and no ones coming for her. She has no way back to her home so she sits in the bus terminal scared and alone. Then she meets this guy who is clean cut and good looking and willing to take care of her and feed her. She follows him home only to learn that looks are deceiving. The nice man Devon turns out to be a monster and this is where the book goes into what happens to little peach and her friends.

I have to say this because I have to be honest with you readers. I loved and hated this book. I have a young daughter and I kept looking at her every time I would read something horrible that would happen to little peach and her friends. The sex trade market is real and out there every where and you have to keep your kids safe. What Little Peach went through at such a young age will scar her for the rest of her life. She will never forget what she went through. I kept thinking if that was my daughter or niece or anyone I knew I would rip Devon's heart out and hang him up for every pimp to see.

About The Author:

Peggy Kern was born and raised in Westbury, New York. There she attended the local public elementary and middle schools, where she was one of the few white students in a predominately black and Latino community. Peggy didn’t realize what a unique and valuable experience that was until she transferred to a private high school.

“I was miserable in high school,” she says. “I couldn’t understand why my classmates only hung out with people who looked just like they did. To me, that was a foreign concept.” Peggy worked a variety of jobs through her teenage years, including switchboard operator at a country club, cashier at a clothing store, and the night-shift in a bakery.

In 1992, Peggy enrolled at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, where she discovered her love of literature and writing. However, the financial stress of paying for college herself – coupled with the painful divorce of her parents – proved overwhelming. She moved back to New York and took a full-time job as a secretary. Determined to finish her degree, she began taking night classes at a local community college and eventually landed a partial scholarship at Long Island University. She continued working full-time and taking classes until she graduated in 1998 with a B.A. in English.

Though it took her almost seven years to obtain her college degree, Peggy says she would do it all again. “The adversity made me work even harder. I never forgot how lucky I was to have a chance at an education.”

In 2001, Peggy completed a Master’s degree in English and Writing at Southampton College. She also coordinated the Southampton Writers Conference, where she had the chance to meet some of her literary heroes and assist young students in pursing their dream of writing. While at Southampton, she taught English Composition, tutored undergraduate students and published several short stories.

Around The World ARC Tours Presents When Reason Breaks by Cindy L. Rodriguez

About The Book:

13 Reasons Why meets the poetry of Emily Dickinson in this gripping debut novel perfect for fans of Sara Zarr or Jennifer Brown.

A Goth girl with an attitude problem, Elizabeth Davis must learn to control her anger before it destroys her. Emily Delgado appears to be a smart, sweet girl, with a normal life, but as depression clutches at her, she struggles to feel normal. Both girls are in Ms. Diaz’s English class, where they connect to the words of Emily Dickinson. Both are hovering on the edge of an emotional precipice. One of them will attempt suicide. And with Dickinson’s poetry as their guide, both girls must conquer their personal demons to ever be happy.

In an emotionally taut novel with a richly diverse cast of characters, readers will relish in the poetry of Emily Dickinson and be completely swept up in the turmoil of two girls grappling with demons beyond their control.

"When Reason Breaks is infused with a rare blend of suspense and sensitivity, despair and hope. The poetic spirit of Emily Dickinson shines through the gloom of daily struggles faced by modern teens, as they discover the possibilities where they dwell."

--Margarita Engle
Newbery Honor-winning author of The Surrender Tree

Goodreads:

My Review:

When Reason Breaks is an amazing story. While I was reading I had this picture in my head of a goth girl wearing all black and being all moody sitting in an English class. I kept laughing to myself and thinking back to my English classes and the people that were in them and I remember this one girl she was a mix of goth and the clown posse and lord everyday she would come in so depressed and sad that I would wonder what was wrong with her. She brought the mood down in the class.

I also love poetry and Emily Dickinson's writing. Cindy put together a great story and made me love poetry even more. The story flowed smoothly and I loved both main characters Elizabeth and Emily. Emily was the normal girl who was depressed and no one knew she was depressed because she hid it well. She went to school and did everything she was supposed to and went home and was the perfect daughter. Then you have Elizabeth, she is angry and can't control it. She wears black all the time and she stays with an angry look so people will leave her alone.

Then something happens in Ms Diaz English class that has both girls taking a serious look at their lives and the people in it. What happens when angry meets depressed meets the uplifting Dickinson? This is a must read story for all poetry lovers as well as all readers who love a good story about two girls just trying to make it instead of breaking it. What will happen to them? Will they live or will they die?

Review:

Where to begin on this review...... Oh Lord I LOVED IT! I love suspense and thrillers but put them both together and I am in heaven. Kieran Scott knows how to grab you and keep you reading. Just when you think you have figured out what is going on and who is doing it you are surprised because it is not that person. I was literally at the edge of the bed reading and gasping because I had it all wrong! Lord K. Scott you did a great job writing this book and I will re-read it over and over again.

Callie and her friends Penelope and Lissa are going on a camping trip. It is supposed to be an all girls camping trip but Callie's boyfriend Jeremy joins then and Lissa is not happy about it. As they walk on the trip to find the campsite they hear strange noises and feel like they are being watched. Then a dead body is discovered and everyone is in shock and scared and wanting to go home but it seems like the killer has different plans for them. It becomes a cat and mouse chase and you don't know who it is until the end and you will be rocked to your reading core.

Who is the killer? Why are killing them off? Who will be left standing at the end of the trip? This is a killer story and I can't wait for you to enjoy it as I did.

ATTENTION BLOGGERS AND BOOK LOVERS BOYSTOWN SEASON TWO IS HAVING A BOOK TOUR JULY 20-26, 2014

Good morning everyone! Yes it has been a while since I have been on here but I had some real life stuff happen to me and I am taking care of myself by reading and getting ready to come back full force!

The first step I am taking is helping out my best friend Jake Biondi host his second book tour for his second season of Boystown. You don't have to be a blogger as long as you have a facebook or twitter account where you can post the post for the day. I would love it to be top post but as it is such short notice top post is not necessary.

I am doing things a little differently for this tour. This tour will have reviews which you can e-mail Jake directly to get a copy @ BoystownTheSeries@yahoo.com and we will have teasers from the new characters and a special posting where you can choose the characters you want to see together and tell Jake why you want to see them together.

Please send me an e-mail at teelovesblogging@gmail.com to let me know what you would like to do.

I appreciate any help you give me as I love Jake and this series is such a kick ass series!

Meet the characters of Boystown:

Cole O'Brien

Cole O’Brien is one of the book’s most interesting, complicated, and sexy characters. A senior graduating early from the University of Notre Dame, Cole flies to Boston to interview at the headquarters of a company that has offices in Chicago, where Cole ultimately wants to live. While in Boston, Cole hooks up with a very attractive man, slightly older than Cole, named Derek Mancini.

Cole immediately falls for Derek and something about Cole sticks with Derek as well. They spend the weekend together in Boston and, when rushing out of the hotel room to catch his flight home to Chicago on the day of his wedding anniversary, Derek leaves his wedding ring behind. Cole finds it and keeps it, hoping to one day be with Derek again. Will Cole and Derek end up together as Cole hopes? Or will Derek manage to keep his secret and his wife? Keep on reading!

It is during his business trip to Boston that he meets and sleeps with Cole O’Brien, who immediately falls for Derek. Something about Cole sticks with Derek as well.

Will Joyelle discover her husband's hidden secrets?

Logan Pryce

Logan is one of BOYSTOWN’s core characters. Very handsome and professionally successful, Logan has low self-esteem and finds it difficult to love himself.

Logan and his boyfriend Max Taylor have been together for a very long time. Of course, that doesn’t mean that they don’t have their problems. Always feeling inferior to Max, Logan seeks confidence and self-esteem from liquor. In spite of Max’s many attempts to help Logan address and deal with his abuse of alcohol, Logan continues to drink, causing a great strain on their relationship. In the meantime, Max’s feelings for his long-time friend Emmett Mancini are beginning to grow. Can Max and Logan survive their issues? Or are they destined to fall apart?

Max Taylor

Max Taylor is one of the book’s “good guys.” Tall, dark, and handsome, Max has a kind, gentle nature, unless provoked. He puts his boyfriend’s needs above all others and takes care of his friends and family.

Emmett Mancini

Emmett Mancini is one of BOYSTOWN’s heroes. Kind, loving and generous, Emmett is the youngest of the three Mancini brothers. He is the family’s voice of reason, compassion, and support.

Emmett and his boyfriend Keith Colgan have been together for about five years, almost as long as his other brother Derek and his wife Joyelle. No one enjoys the Christmas season more than Emmett, and Keith thinks the holiday season is the perfect time of year to “pop the question” to Emmett. A few of their friends are in on the exciting surprise, but Emmett is clueless about his boyfriend’s intentions. And Emmett is clueless about something else as well…Keith’s past. Will Emmett say “yes” to Keith’s proposal? Will Keith’s past put an end to their happiness? Keep turning the pages to find out!

Keith Colgan

Keith Colgan is one of BOYSTOWN’s central characters. Handsome and sexy, Keith has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth and gives off a bit of “attitude” to those he doesn’t know well.

Keith and his boyfriend Emmett Mancini have been together for about five years and Keith is ready to take their relationship to the next level. No one enjoys the Christmas season more than Emmett, and Keith thinks the holiday season is the perfect time of year to “pop the question” to Emmett. Will Emmett say “yes” to Keith’s proposal? Will Keith’s past put an end to their happiness? Keep reading to find out!

Jacqueline Morgan

Jacqueline Morgan is one of BOYSTOWN's most exciting and complex characters. Beautiful and bright, Jacqueline is Jesse Morgan's mother.

Never revealing the identity of Jesse's father to him, Jacqueline raised Jesse entirely on her own. She was a fantastic mother -- generous and loving. But Jesse still longed to have a relationship with his father.

Little does Jacqueline know that her life is about to be turned upside down when a mysterious stranger named Ben Donovan enters her life.

Jesse Morgan

Jesse is one of the book’s hottest and most complex characters. A senior graduating early from the University of Notre Dame, Jesse receives a job offer from Logan Pryce, a man Jesse immediately becomes attracted to. The only problem is that Logan already has a partner.

Jesse accepts the job and, along with his college roommate Cole O’Brien, moves to Chicago. Excited to begin their lives in Chicago, Jesse and Cole find an apartment in the heart of Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood and soon find themselves at the center of the novel’s action.

Having grown up not knowing his father, Jesse prays for the day when his mother will finally tell him who is father is so that he can attempt to build a relationship with him. In the meantime, a chance encounter brings Jesse and his new boss Logan closer than Jesse ever thought possible.

Justin Mancini

Justin is the oldest of the three Mancini brothers and one of the book’s darkest characters. Although he doesn’t appear in the book until Episode 9, Justin immediately figures into the book’s main storylines.

Harboring a dark history with his brothers Derek and Emmett, Justin arrives in Chicago to supposedly make amends with his brothers. But Derek and Emmett are suspicious about Justin’s arrival in Chicago – and they should be. Justin has a plan all his own and what he is after could destroy the entire Mancini family!
